A question that we get very often at airbed guy is about sheets. Will they fit, what size sheets do I need to get for my queen sized airbed?? Hahah!
While it may seem like common sense I can certainly understand where these questions come from because I also had these questions early on so let me clear this one up here and now.
The quick answer is that airbeds use the same size sheets that their counterparts use. If an airbed is labeled as queen size then you will 9 times out of 10 be able to use a queen size sheet set with it. Now you may see some sheets marketed as “airbed sheets“ but if you look at the measurements and compare them to regular sheets you’ll see that they are the same.
To clear up those unique circumstances though let’s go over the standard measurements for each size of bed and then towards then end address the depth of the mattress and understand when that can be an issue.
Let’s cover mattress sizes first
Twin: 39 x 75 inches
Full: 54 x 75 inches
Queen: 60 x 80 inches
King: 76 x 80 inches
Flat sheet sizes
Twin: 66 x 96 inches
Full: 81 x 96 inches
Queen: 90 x 102 inches
King: 108 x 102 inches
Fitted sheet size
Twin: 39 x 75 inches
Full: 54 x 75 inches
Queen: 60 x 80 inches
King: 76 x 80 inches
————————-
Here are the metric measurements:
Mattress sizes
Twin: 99 x 190 cm
Full: 137 x 190 cm
Queen: 153 x 203 cm
King: 198 x 203 cm
Flat sheet sizes
Twin: 167 x 243 cm
Full: 205 x 243 cm
Queen: 228 x 259 cm
King: 274 x 259 cm
Fitted sheet size
Twin: 99 x 190 cm
Full: 137 x 190 cm
Queen: 153 x 203 cm
King: 198 x 203 cm

When it comes to depth the measurements aren’t as certain but it’s no real cause for concern. Most single height beds “degrade gracefully” with sheets that are deeper than the mattress and double height beds handle fitted sheets just as your regular bed will. The indention between the “top” and “bottom” of these double height airbeds is where the sheet will hug the bed. Another thing to consider is the flocking that you find on most airbeds REALLY holds onto sheets tightly. If you happen to have an airbed without flocking or a comfort top then you may do a little slipping and sliding but nothing major and without question it will beat sleeping on the ground!!
One little thing that I probably don’t even need to point out is that satin sheets don’t mix well with airbeds in my opinion. Of course it will work but perhaps you can just take my word on this one.
So that should cover everything that you wanted to know about fitting your sheets on your new airbed.
