Airbed Guy Video #2

by Airbed Guy on April 22, 2011

This is my video demonstration of the Mainstays elevated queen sized airbed. I was really impressed with this bed. It inflates quickly, holds air well, sleeps comfortably and folds up easily. It’s worth noting that Mainstays seems to just be the marketing company and Intex is the manufacturer. No worries there, especially with this bed. Buy with confidence. It’s a great airbed.

Today we’re going to be looking at the Mainstays queen-size elevated airbed, with the built-in electric pump. Let’s see what we find out. As with all the airbeds, you want to be kinda careful when you’re opening them, cause there is an airbed inside, but this one there’s just a little bit of tape here, so, let’s, let’s get rid of that, open it up, and. See what’s in there. Something interesting. As I started looking at the instructions for the Mainstays airbed, I realized that this is actually an Intex manufacturer bed. Mainstays is just a marketing company. If you look at the instruction there you can see Intec’s on the internal pump, so just go forward with that in mind. Let’s weigh this airbed and see how much. It’s gonna take out of your back to get it down the stairs or out of the closet. It’s a little over eighteen pounds, which including the pump, that’s not too bad. It’s on par, with everything else I’ve seen. So let’s, unpack it, also be, mindful, [thumping] that it does come with a bag, that’s really useful when you’re trying to stow it away and carry it around places. I really like these internal pumps. They’re really convenient. You don’t have to worry about forgetting it, plugging anything else in other than the bed itself. The cord in this one is stored right in here. What’s also really cool, is while you can inflate the pump, quickly this way, you can also, do a quick, deflate by doing the opposite way. That’s much easier than a lot of the other airbeds that I’m seeing nowadays, so, that’s a, a feature that you’ll really appreciate in this airbed. Let’s, plug it in and see how long it takes to fill this bag up. I gotta tell you. I’m really liking this bed a lot so far.

It took about two minutes to fill up from, from what I just filmed there. After the camera went off I put about ten more seconds into it. you want to fill it up until the top, domes up just a little bit, [thumping] and then you have a great firm just like you do right now. The, top, sides, and top, feel about average. You’re gonna want at least a sheet in-between you and the, the PVC vinyl that’s beneath it. Otherwise you’re gonna have a really cold night or a really sweaty night, one or the other. Neither one sounds good to me. Um. So, I guess I’m gonna be spending the night on this thing, tonight, um, my wife hates the test nights. She can’t get enough of the airbed guy, just like I’m sure you guys can’t. So uh, tomorrow morning when I wake up, I’ll let you know how it went.

Oh. Oh, that’s nice. So I didn’t mention that before, but this bed has about a six hundred pound capacity. So you and your heavyweight lover can have a full night’s sleep on this without a problem. I had a great night’s sleep last night. Not a single problem, I don’t think it lost any air, I didn’t have to touch the pump. If I were to sleep on it tomorrow night I don’t think I’d have to touch, the pump then either. Um, this is a really good bed, let’s take a little time, deflate it, see how much time it takes to pack it up cause that’s usually a little bit longer, then, we’ll do a final review. Now’s a really good time to talk about this, internal air pump one more time, before we deflate the bed. Uh, to deflate it you’re just gonna turn it counterclockwise, [background noise]. It’s really cool though. You can also, turn the pump on, [squealing] it’s really going to speed up the process. Let’s see how long it takes to to deflate.

Holy crap. This was an easy bed to put up. It slept comfortable, it was easy to inflate, easy to stow away, looks like it’s gonna be a little bit more difficult to fit into the bag, but it provided a great night sleep it was really firm, if you’re gonna use it for multiple nights I wouldn’t worry about it. Something that I’ll feel comfortable putting my guests on. That’s my full review for AirbedGuy.com. Thanks.

Airbed Guy,
I have an Ozark Trail bed identical to the one in the Mainstay – Intex video. The problem is the pump works fine, but it allows air out when you turn it off. Do you know of any replacement parts or other way to fix it?
Thanks,
JJK
